1.) Fill out an adoption survey!
This survey gives us a little information about you and your lifestyle, it will assist in matching you and your family with the perfect feline companion. Either fill out the survey online here to submit it immediately, or click on the attachment below to view the Adoption Survey, if you would like more time to fill it out and email it firstname.lastname@example.org
2.) We’ll call you!
We will call you to go over your adoption survey and discuss great kitty options for you! Once approved, we will set up a time for you to come and meet the cat(s). Please be patient with us as we are foster-based and will need to coordinate time with foster and applicant that works for both parties. Meetings with cats prior to adoption allows everyone to see how the cat will respond to a new family, and allows the Open Doors volunteers to answer any questions or address any concerns you may have immediately!
If you are concerned with bringing a new cat into your home this way, please let us know and we will be happy to answer any questions and concerns at any time.
If the visit with the kitty goes well, and you decide to make this commitment, the contract is signed and the kitty goes home with you! Easy as that!
If you feel you may need a little more time to think about the adoption, feel free to take some time and call to schedule a second visit!
We want to do everything in our power to make sure that you find the pet that you love and who will love you right back!
Once an Open Doors animal, always an Open Doors animal. We encourage you to call or text at any time with questions, concerns, or any issues that may arise after your adoption, Open Doors will always be there for our kitties no matter what!
What the adoption fee includes:
* Vaccinations (Up to date of adoption)
* Medical care necessary prior to adoption (including flea treatments)
* FIV/FeLK test
* Rabies Tag if located in Kane County and cat is of age to have rabies vaccination; otherwise this will be the responsibility of adopter.
* Please note, if you adopt a kitten under 16 weeks of age, you will be required to sign a waiver for Open Doors Animal Rescue to fix your kitten at a preset appointment (this does not change the adoption fee) and you will also be required to see a vet to get a Rabies vaccination at your cost after the kitten is 16 weeks old.
Open Doors Animal Rescue recognizes the fact that it may take time for an animal to adjust in the home, but sometimes the match just does not work out, either financially or otherwise. We have developed a 7-day hold on adoption fees. You are expected to pay the adoption fee at the time of the adoption, with check, cash, or money order. We DO NOT take credit or debit cards at this time. We will hold your payment for 7 days, at the end of which we will call you to see how the transition is going. If all is well, that is when we make the deposit. If not, you will get your original payment back.
After the 7 days, however, while we will still welcome back any animals that were adopted from us, we cannot refund payments for returns.
